Spring! Or...maybe not?

Today I am thinking…almond blossoms.  It's February and the buds on the almond trees are swelling and staring to push open and spring is just around the corner!  If you live in California.  Here in Roach, Missouri there is snow on the ground (or slushy mud as the case may be), with yet another winter storm in the forecast.  However, I saw a cheery flock of robins yesterday proving that spring is on the way regardless of what the weather is trying to tell us.
In all honesty, I enjoy the snow and the different seasons.  It never fails to remind me that even though the seasons around me continually change, God remains the same.  My time here at the New Tribes Missionary Training Center is a new season and one that will undoubtedly bring change.  Sometimes I wonder why God did not bring me to this point before now, but I know His plans are greater than anything I can imagine, and He was preparing me then for what He has prepared for me now.  (Exciting!)
I am thoroughly enjoying being back in classes.  We are currently taking Communication Skills, Worldview Analysis, Foundational Bible Teaching, and Stewardship (time and money management).  They have been interactive (an added benefit of having only twenty-one students in the class) and very practical for ministry and life as we are living it right here and now.  I appreciate the emphasis placed on using these skills and tools to reach out to the people in the community around us, and not waiting until we “get to the mission field."

Speaking of the field, people often ask what country I am planning to go to.  At this point, I do not have an   answer to that question. With 2,500 people groups still waiting for God’s word to be brought to them in their own heart language, there is no shortage of options.  This is a time of preparation and I look forward to seeing where the Lord leads during my time here.  I will be sure to let you know as soon as I have more direction.  In the mean time, I appreciate your continued prayers and encouragement.  This is a God-sized task. We are in this together.
